it's hard to have another half.

someone who shares the same interest as you.
at the same time, they can be your exact opposite.

they're someone you want yourself to be known to.
at the same time, they can be someone you hide away from.

within just one day, i saw so many different pairs.
it felt like i was witnessing their relationship.
i'd look at them and think "what's their story?".

how is it that people who have been married for over 50 years,
manage to stay married for over 50 years?
haven't they ever felt like giving up?
haven't they ever felt that enough is enough?

some beg for company, others would rather be alone.
how is it that a handful can be torn between both?
it's always been either a "yes" or a "no".
and i've realised that being in the grey and saying "i don't know" just isn't helping.
this indecisiveness only creates frustration.

but sometimes, being in the grey can be the greatest experience of your life.
a yes 'cause things might get better, but it's a risk.
and a no 'cause you don't want to risk what you have.
but what do you do when you take that risk and your plan fails?
do you sit and think of a million plans to make things right?
afterall,
Thomas Edison did say "I didn't fail 99 times. I just found 99 ways how not to make a lightbulb."

or do you just let nature take it's course and believe that "everything happens for a reason"?
well, sure.
everything happens for a reason.
the reason could be because of your actions, or your inactions.

frustration.
how do you deal with frustration? i don't even know where to begin with this.

mistakes.
always reminded of. yet non-mistakes are always forgotten.
how do we break this human-nature of digging up the past?
what happened to "forgive and forget?"

never be involved with affliations, because it will only bring you suffering.
but what's a heart to do when its only function is to love, and be loved in return.
it jumps when you're happy and ache when you're sad.
which brings back to the beginning.
either a yes or a no.
either you're down or up.
if you're somewhere in the middle, you're doubtful. unsure.
then something must be wrong somewhere.

life is still the ultimate irony.

Happy St Valentine's.
